JUNIOR OLYMPICS
Club assignments for the JO Association meet will be given out in order as the club registrations are received.

On time registration is $5 per event. Late registration is $10 per event. Athletes must register at least two hours before the scheduled time of their event.

BACKGROUND CHECKS - Patti Petesch mentioned that starting this year we will be using a new background screening company, TCLogic. We will be able to register our youth coaches/volunteers online. The clubs will be notified if the person passes and will be posted to the website immediately. More details to come as it becomes available. Cost is $8 per person. A motion was passed that the Youth PNA will reimburse the clubs for the background checks ($8). Please have your background checks submitted before club practices begin.

CROSS COUNTRY -
2009 X-C Junior Olympic schedule
Nov 14 - JO Association, Woodland Park, Seattle
Nov 21 - JO Regionals, Spokane, Plantes Ferry Sports Field
Dec 12 - JO Nationals, Reno, NV

2010 X-C Junior Olympic Nationals will be held in Hoover, Alabama (fly into Birmingham).

Darryl Genest reported on a proposal that was submitted by Bill Roe. Bottom line: to create a one-day event (at the Youth Regional X-C meet, Nov 21st) that would host the youth, open and masters; and a new racing category for the youth division would be added - "Northwest High School Championship." After a very lengthy discussion, it was determined that Tom Cotner needed to go back to the Masters and get their input before anything further can be determined.

NEW BUSINESS - Helen Woodke reported that she has looked into renting a table/space at the high school state track meet (May 29-30). Cost is $200 per day. We're not able to sell anything, but we are allowed to distribute information. There was a brief discussion about a printed program describing each club, and possibly selling ads with the $ going to PNA and the Fred Dean Scholarship. There was also a discussion about distributing a business-card size info card. Darryl Genest also offered to help Helen with this opportunity.

There was also a bried discussion about the Youth PNA buying an ad in the High School State program, promoting the JO Association meet.

MORE NEW BUSINESS - Once again the National office will be hosting a youth workshop, March 28-30 in Atlanta, GA. Kwajalein Griffin (VP, PNA) and Asha Dean (Youth Chair, PNA) will be attending as representatives of our Association. A motion was passed that we would reimburse them for any expenses not already covered by the National office.

OLD BUSINESS - Vic Roberson of Rainier Beach Track Club was the recipient of the 2008 Youth Contributor of the Year. Congratulations, Vic!
